What People are Saying.
“Heidi was the first person who came to mind when I considered who I wanted to hire for supervision. I knew she’d be a perfect fit for me when embarking on facilitating a year long process with individuals who have a long history of complex trauma. Her extensive knowledge of trauma, astute instinct, and grounded humor were a welcome combination in supervision. Heidi was able to reflect on my and the groups’ experiences in a way that allowed me space to flex my own creative and clinical muscles as the facilitator of that group. I grew as a clinician, artist, and overall human from my experience with Heidi. I feel confident that anyone who is lucky enough to have her as a supervisor will do the same.”

"Having been a psycho-therapist for over 30 years, I am reluctant to commit to a group experience unless the facilitator is frankly excellent and an expert. Heidi paced us through a warming up process until the group was safe and capable of welcoming and holding whatever showed up. I gained a few new tools no doubt, but the real benefit is hard to put into language. For me personally, it was visceral, embodied, and emotional, allowing me to get out of my own way and make a shift I have been needing to make. This morning I am feeling much more alive, in my body, aware and available to my clients. I am reminded of what Moshe Feldenkrais wrote, "You can't do what you want until you know what you are doing."

“Heidi Landis provided an incredible day of learning and reflection for the Teaching Artists at the New York Philharmonic on Trauma Informed Pedagogy. Ms.Landis is excellent at creating a welcoming learning environment that encouraged our faculty to look closely at how student trauma and our own trauma can influence learning and teaching. Heidi took us through games and warm-ups that can be used to unify and reset a learning environment while also giving us tools that would help us get our jobs done more effectively as art educators. Among the things that were really useful about our day long professional development, were the concrete tools that could be used in lesson design and classroom management. Ms.Landis stressed that our job as artist-educators wasn’t to diagnose trauma, but to be mindful of how trauma can be trigged in lesson design or classroom interaction. Also excellent were the breakout sessions in which Heidi traveled between groups to help us problem solve real life challenges and questions being faced by our faculty and the communities we serve.
As a faculty and office, we all came out of our professional development feeling renewed, educated and validated. Working with Heidi was a pleasure and we have appreciated the offers of continued support through the other workshops and trainings that Heidi offers.”

“Heidi provides our community members with a level of support that we are not able to offer otherwise. Her drama therapy groups at The Center for Special Needs offer a unique therapeutic and safe environment for our participants that we (and they) truly value. She always brings energy, creativity, humor and respect to her work and our sessions. Heidi also runs trainings for our staff and Social Work interns. She continually impresses us with her understanding of the dynamics of group work. We feel fortunate to have partnered with Heidi We look forward to working with Heidi for many years to come.”
— Caitlin McInerney, MSW. JCC Manhattan director of adaptations, 40+, center for special needs
“I have been working with and learning from Heidi for about four years. I am a licensed clinical social worker and first met her when I attended a training she was doing about using drama therapy with adolescents. I was so impressed by her energy, experience and skill that I took another workshop. That second workshop set me on an exciting and unexpected path. I am now studying to become a registered drama therapist under Heidi's supervision and have been a member of her Psychodrama training group for the past three years. I can't say enough about her skill and dedication. I have learned so much from her and just keep on learning. You couldn't ask for a better mentor, trainer or supervisor. Heidi is the real deal!”

“Heidi Landis is a skilled, knowledgeable and engaging facilitator. Upon meeting Heidi, I was struck by her warm and genuine personality, and her ability to connect with everyone in the room which immediately creates a safe space for her students. Prior to beginning a theater program serving children living in homeless shelters, I hired Heidi to work with our teaching artists. She was extremely collaborative and supportive throughout the planning process and she paid close attention to our goals and objectives. Heidi ultimately crafted and led thoughtful and informative sessions that prepared our artists to responsibly work with their students. I highly recommend working with her!”
– Brooke Boertzel, Director of Education (former), New York City Children's Theater
“Heidi became my drama therapy supervisor during the fall of 2018. I was fortunate that she was willing to continue providing incredibly helpful guidance after I graduated and began practicing in an outpatient setting. Heidi is by far the best supervisor I have had. Her wisdom, deep patience, inspiring creativity, and direct approach have been the foundation of my growth as a new practitioner. Heidi was the first supervisor that I had who genuinely demonstrated to me that she truly cared and was one hundred percent there for me, encouraging me to rise to my potential. I cannot recommend Heidi for supervision enough! Heidi has been unwaveringly supportive of me through some of the most difficult times and works with my ridiculous schedule for online meetings (even before the pandemic in 2020). ”
